Dr. Toan A. Tran is an orthokeratologist, therapeutic optometrist & optometric glaucoma specialist born and raised in the DFW area. His dedication and personal commitment to “serving patients first” provides for a thorough, comfortable and overall excellent experience.
After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Tran went on to obtain his Doctor of Optometry in San Juan, Puerto Rico and is clinically trilingual (English, Vietnamese and Spanish). When Dr. Tran is not in the office, he spends most of his time with his extended family and close friends. He is an avid golfer, plays flag football twice a week, and loves supporting hometown sports teams (Mavericks, Rangers & Cowboys).
Dr. Tran has been in the optical & optometry field since 1999. He started off as a newly hired optician, earning and learning his way through every position within the the front office before being accepted into Optometry school. Once he graduated from Optometry School with his doctorate, he knew the only way to fulfill his knowledge and craft was to open up a private practice.
He’s now a proud owner of an on-campus practice at the University of North Texas in Denton. This Denton location allows him to make immediate educational impact to all students from undergraduate to post doctorate, employees and professors of both UNT and TWU in the area. By opening Wink Eye Care in the early summer of 2013, he is able to practice full scope optometry from all different ages and generations and happily serve the community of Little Elm and Frisco.
Dr. Kim Blois
is our other full time optometrist at Wink Eye Care and College Optical Express. A “country girl” at heart originally from North Texas, Dr. Blois’s natural hospitality and professional experience gives patients a personal and precise visit each time. She is committed to your visual health.
Her motivation to become a successful O.D. originated at an early age, when she realized how much we use our eyes and the importance of clear vision. Before graduating from the University of North Texas (Go Mean Green!), Dr. Blois started in the optical and optometric field as an optician for COE. It was then, Dr. Tran mentored and instilled in Dr. Blois his philosophy of “serving patients first.”
Dr. Blois achieved her Doctor of Optometry after graduating with Honors from the University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry in San Antonio.
Knowing first hand she and Dr. Tran shared a common passion, Dr. Blois rejoined the COE and WEC team. She is excited to be back and serve the residents of North Texas!
Outside the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband, walking their two pups around in the Texas sky, and (in between Netflix “marathons”) training at the gym.
Jorge is our optical lab manager and he is ABO Certified. Jorge is a native Texan. He grew up in the Grand Prairie & Arlington Texas area and has actually known Dr. Tran since he was at the age of 17. He is in charge of training our staff in new technology of lenses, coatings and also new frames. He also takes care of the in-house lab jobs along with framing and fashion inventory for our offices. He has been in the optical field since 2006 and has worked his way up the ladder by perfecting his craft behind the scenes. He is passionate about providing the right modification and style of lenses for each of our patients and making sure that our patients are given the best quality of products as possible for their prescriptions. Aside from managing frames and lenses, Jorge is a car enthusiast and he is a huge local home sports fan.
Trenton is a North Texas native. After graduating from The University of North Texas in 2011, he tended bar in a couple of spots around Denton. Having worked in the food service industry for over 10 years, Trenton felt it time to make a change and learn a new skill set. In the Spring of 2014 he took a hiatus from the professional world and hiked the southern portion of the Appalachian Trail. Upon returning from the adventure of a lifetime, Trenton joined the workforce once more, this time as an optician, now Assistant Manager for the College Optical Express & Wink Eye Care family. Dr. Tran calls him the sponge because he’s been one of the fastest learners that Dr. Tran has ever had. Aside from outdoor recreation, Trenton is an avid fan of music, film and literature.
Star joined the team early 2016. She is a sweet heart from the town of Ardmore, OK. We were fortunate to add her to our team because she was already a good optician in Oklahoma with Dr. Bush and his eye care team. If you work with Star, she’ll brighten up your day with great conversation and her infectious personality. Our team has benefited from her joyous ways!
Diem is currently a student at The University of North Texas. She is a quick learner, hard worker, and fun personality that has been added to our team. If you work with her you will notice how fun she is to converse with! And yes…she is also Trieu’s younger sister. They may be related but they are totally different in personalities; both very good opticians!
Eric joined the team towards the end of 2016. He is our official bilingual optician. He’s extremely sincere in his ways and will blow you away with his customer service skills and knowledge. He’s originally from Amarillo and here to start a new life in North Texas. Please make him feel welcomed to North Texas ya’ll!
Edward is a new addition in 2017 to the team. He grew up in the North Texas Area and has a motivation to learn and get more front end office experience. He has two years of lab work in the industry. He’s a great listener and will give you great advice on what’s best for your prescription!
Tori is our newest addition in 2017 to the team. She’s originally from the Wylie area. She’s a graduate of TWU and has work experience in the retail and speech therapy area. She has great customer service skills and will warm you up with her smile and personality.
Dr. Tran is an associate professor of his graduate school, Inter-American University of Puerto Rico School of Optometry.
